Igualada (ACN).- The European Balloon Festival celebrates its 16th edition this year, with a new logo and a strong presence on social networks, “to adapt the festival to the new social communicative habits”. The event has created a new network with a direct link to Facebook and Twitter, where there will be updated information during the days prior to the event, which will be held from the 4th to 8th of July in Igualada, a town in central Catalonia, next to the cava wine region. The new website will give information in real time. Furthermore, this edition will gather around 50 balloons from throughout Europe.
The festival’s organisation explained that the main goal of social networks is not only to inform but also to create a community of followers that can make comments on Twitter and Facebook about the event.
Igualada’s Town Hall and Ultramagic –the company that organises this event- agreed that the event will be a business attraction to promote activities that bring the festival to the public. It is estimated that the attendance will be greater that in the previous year. In 2011, 12.000 people visited Igualada during the European Balloon Festival.
